Questions asked before a first booking

How soon should a booking request reach the desk?

Send the request as soon as the delivery date is known. A chartered sailing has a fixed slot count, and the earlier the desk can chart the route, the more choice remains for the berth window. Urgent requests are still accepted, but they may be offered the next sailing rather than the one closest to the requested date.

What should a first message contain?

Give the cargo description, the number and size of the boxes, the loading address, the destination port and the date the cargo must arrive. If the load needs a reefer plug, say so in the first line so the desk can reserve a power point at the same time as the slot.

Can the desk handle paperwork for a vessel already at sea?

Yes. Port agency requests for a vessel already under way are taken by the same desk, and the agency team will confirm what can still be lodged before arrival. Where a document can no longer be filed in time, the desk says so immediately rather than after the vessel has reached the berth.
